Aufzeichnungen

A nameless civil servant decides to stop going to the office in order to finally take an unflinching look at his life. In his basement apartment, he ponders his profession in general and his private world in particular. Bitter, bizarre and touching, he recounts his failures in work, friendship and love. Which memories does he stubbornly refuse to face? Which hopes and longings keep resurfacing? What abominable crime against his own life has he committed, that he now seems trapped in a basement hole?

"Aufzeichnungen" (Notes) is an intermedial theatre piece combining the means of spoken theatre with elements of film and installation art. To open the festival "Trierer Unterwelten" (Trier Underworlds), the artist collective 'bühne1' undertakes a narrative journey through the dreams and abysses of a lonely, yet by no means singular, soul, based on texts by Nikolai Gogol and Fyodor Dostoevsky.

The project "Aufzeichnungen" took place as part of the festival "Trierer Unterwelten" and was funded by the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture of Rhineland-Palatinate as well as by the city of Trier.
